Max Homa caused quite the stir at the 2025 PGA Championship with a stellar performance that saw him netting his best score in a major round—and he might owe it all to the state of Arizona.

The pro golfer, 34, was not considered to be in the running for a win at the historic tournament. However, that quickly changed with his incredible play in Round 2, which left him tied for third place when he signed his card, according to NBC Golf.

Although the tournament has a ways to go before it concludes, the headline-grabbing performance placed Homa firmly at the forefront of the contest, in which the likes of Rory McIlroyBryson DeChambeau, and Scottie Scheffler are among the favorites to win.

It comes just a few years after Homa quit his home state of California and moved to Arizona alongside his wife, Lacey Croom, and their son, Cam, who was born in 2022.

The Homa clan live in a sprawling Scottsdale property that they purchased for $3.45 million in January of that same year, according to property records, which originally listed the happy couple as the owners, before they transferred the deed to an LLC.

Speaking about his decision to relocate from his beloved home state, which he regularly represents by donning a Los Angeles Dodgers baseball cap on the course, Homa explained in 2024 that he felt Arizona would provide a better backdrop for his training—while also giving the family the best possible place in which to raise kids.

During an interview with GQ, he opened up about whether his life “changed” after he received his PGA tour card in 2013.

“It really didn’t,” he explained. “I went back and lived at home for, like, two years and then stayed in Valencia, CA, just north of Los Angeles.

“Then I ended up moving to the Orange County area with my now-wife and lived throughout Southern California for a while. Now we live together in Arizona, which is a better hub for golf. When you’re young, you don’t mind getting in a cab at midnight and driving 50 minutes back to the house.”

He continued: “We moved out here because long term, it just felt like this was going to be a better place to cultivate a good golf game and raise a family at the same time.”

Still, Homa manages to find at least some time to relax in his opulent abode, which boasts four bedrooms and 4.5 bathrooms.

He revealed to GQ that his favorite pastimes at home are watching his beloved Dodgers and playing “Call of Duty,” although he joked that he “sucks” at the video game.

“It’s just very demoralizing to come home, be really excited to play after a long road trip, and then just get worked over for three hours. I need a beginner’s level,” he joked.

He also shared that he brought some special items from California to add a bit of personality to his property, noting that one of his favorite items is a picture of him and fellow golf pro Tiger Woods, who also hails from Southern California.

“I have an office, and we got these big shelves put in behind my desk,” he shared. “So I have my video game set up on my desk, and I have all my trophies behind me. They’re all cool and special, but the Genesis Invitational trophy from my hometown of Los Angeles is beautiful.

“I have a picture of it with myself and Tiger Woods, who was the host and had to hand it over to me. He grew up in Southern California, I’m from Southern California, and he played a lot of the junior events I played in growing up—his record is just unheard of.”

In addition to Homa’s office space, his house, which was built in 2017, features a number of wide-open living spaces, including a spacious family room and a huge kitchen with a walk-in pantry.

The 4,000-square-foot mansion comes with a sprawling patio, an air-conditioned garage, and a shimmering blue swimming pool in the backyard.

Before Homa and his wife bought the property, it had changed hands just two times: first in January 2018 for $1.9 million, then in July 2020 for $2.4 million.
