Rather than moving into a luxury home or penthouse, Purdy shares a modest house with teammate and offensive lineman Nick Zakelj.
Their living arrangement has become the stuff of 49ers lore—not for its lavishness, but for its sheer relatability.
Despite being a finalist for MVP and leading one of the NFL’s premier teams, Purdy still splits rent.
“I still have a roommate,” he shared during an interview. “We’re still splitting rent.”

Purdy and Zakelj’s friendship began in 2022 at the 49ers facility, sparked by a surprising connection—Mike Rose, Purdy’s former college roommate at Iowa State, was also Zakelj’s childhood friend.

The two started out living with a third rookie teammate, Alfredo Gutierrez, before moving into their current house—20 minutes from the team facility—before the 2023 season.
Their bond only strengthened from there. “They’re like two peas in a pod,” said left guard Aaron Banks. “They bicker like roommates, but they’re a fun duo.”
Life at the Purdy-Zakelj Residence
The media might paint a picture of two NFL players slumming it, but that couldn’t be further from the truth.
This house is described by teammates as “beautiful,” with plenty of space—not just for living, but for hosting friends, family, and fun.
Regulars at the house include Purdy’s wife, Jenna, and Zakelj’s girlfriend, May.
Friends come by for games like Settlers of Catan, Qwirkle, and competitive rounds of cornhole.
The vibe? Less NFL glamour, more wholesome game night.
Teammates often share stories of Purdy’s spot-on impersonations, from “Family Guy” characters to “SpongeBob SquarePants”, keeping the house filled with laughter.
“He’s joking around, so it’s all good,” Purdy said, acknowledging the comedic relief he brings both at home and on the field.
Brock Purdy’s Football Career
Brock Purdy’s NFL rise is one of the most compelling stories in recent memory.
Born in 1999 and drafted as the final pick, Mr. Irrelevant—in the 2022 NFL Draft, Purdy began as the 49ers’ third-string quarterback.
When injuries sidelined Trey Lance and Jimmy Garoppolo, Purdy stepped in and immediately impressed.
He won all five regular-season games he started in 2022, helped the team reach the NFC Championship Game, and continued his dominance in 2023.
That season, he led the league in multiple passing categories, set the franchise’s single-season passing yardage record, and earned his first Pro Bowl selection.

At Perry High School in Gilbert, Arizona, Purdy became a standout quarterback, leading his team to consecutive state championship appearances and earning Arizona’s Gatorade Player of the Year.
